2023 A4 HIPAA and Security - Annual Training

This course covers HIPAA Privacy & Security requirements for DMEPOS suppliers. You will learn what is required by the supplier to be in compliance with the HITECH Omnibus rule and the HIPAA Privacy & Security requirements set forth by the Office of Civil Rights. You will be able to understand HIPAA Privacy and Security as well as what is required of you and your responsibilities. This course is provided for both DMEPOS owners as well as their employees, both for their own personal and professional knowledge as well as compliance with Accreditation Standards. All employees should complete this training upon hire and then annually. This course should be taken by all employees to include Privacy/Security Officers and owners. This program will cover:

• What is HIPAA?
• What you need to do to protect the privacy of a patient's personal and health information.
• What you need to do beyond providing a Notice of Privacy Practices.
• What rights patients have to approve, access/use of their medical information.
• What are Business Associates and what changes did the Omnibus rule have on them effective September 23, 2013?
• How you must provide the physical and electronic security of personal health information.
• Penalties for violations.
