What is Performance Improvement

This course was developed to give a better understanding of Performance Improvement. All DMEPOS (DME & O&P) facilities with a current Medicare provider number had to be Accredited by one of the 10 deemed accredited organizations. In addition to meeting the 30 CMS DMEPOS Supplier Standards, the DMEPOS provider is also held to the Medicare Quality Standards. The Quality Standards are explained in the CMS publication released in October 2008. In order to be compliant with the Quality Standard the supplier must provide proof of an on-going Performance Improvement program showing they are in compliance by tracking and monitoring certain indicators.

  • Know what not to do.
  • Know what to monitor.
  • Discuss your goals in developing a Performance Improvement plan.
