Lab Safety in Orthotics Prosthetics & Pedorthics

The Occupational Safety and Health Act is the primary federal law which governs occupational health and safety in the private sector and federal government in the United States. It was enacted by Congress in 1970 and was signed by President Richard Nixon on December 29, 1970.

ALL employees are required to have proper safety training. This course is one of several safety courses available to meet the needs of every employee.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • List general hazard classifications.
  • Identify at least five pieces of information found on each material safety data sheet.
  • Explain container Labeling Requirements
  • Locate and gather information from MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets).
  • Be able to discuss OSHA's Hazardous Communication Standards (HCS).
  • Describe the four main employer responsibilities under the HazCom standard.
