Red Flags Rule New for 2010
What Health Care Providers Need to Know About Complying with New Requirements for Fighting Identity Theft. This is a new law the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) began enforcement of November 1st 2009; this has been delayed until June 1, 2010
At the completion of this program, the participant will:
- Define medical identity theft.
- Define "creditor" and "covered entity".
- List four components of a Red Flags Rule policy.
- Be able to list examples of suspicious documents, suspicious personally identifying information, and suspicious activities that may be red flags of identity theft.
- List at least 6 elements of an Identity Theft Prevention Program.
- List 3 actions to take after developing a Red Flags Compliance Policy and Procedure related to HIPAA requirements.
